Directorate of Data Systems and Information Technology - Diponegoro University History
The organization currently known as the Directorate of Information Systems and Technology (DSTI) has undergone several structural and organizational transformations to adapt to the institution’s evolving needs and the rapid advancement of information technology.
The journey began in 1994 with the establishment of the Bureau of Planning Administration and Information Systems (BAPSI). This bureau was responsible for supporting institutional planning and managing information systems. BAPSI served the institution from 1994 to 2016.
In 2016, the organization was renamed the Bureau of Planning Administration, Research, and Information Systems (BAPERSI) during the 2016–2020 period.
In 2020, another organizational transformation resulted in the establishment of the Bureau of Information Administration, Communication, Alumni, Business, and Reporting (BAIKABP). This new structure integrated several strategic functions, including information management, communication, alumni relations, business development, and institutional reporting, into a single organizational unit. BAIKABP operated from 2020 to 2021.
In 2021, the organization was renamed the Bureau of Communication and Business (BKB) during the 2021–2024.
Recognizing the growing importance of digital transformation and the strategic role of information technology in supporting institutional excellence, the organization underwent another major restructuring in 2024, becoming the Directorate of Information Systems and Technology (DSTI). As a directorate, DSTI plays a more strategic role in planning, developing, managing, and optimizing information systems and digital technologies to support institutional operations, service delivery, innovation, and digital transformation. This organizational structure has been in effect since 2024 and continues to the present.
